Beginnings and Books

Well, we’ve done it. We made it to a new year and somehow the world is still spinning. I’ve been sitting here trying to figure out how to write this post, how to return to this platform as if nothing has changed, but that would be dishonest. In the last few months, I haven’t been motivated enough to write a single word, on paper or otherwise. It felt like I was dragging my feet through cement and so I stopped. And since I’m being frank I admit that putting this post together is difficult too. Everything about last year was difficult. Politics have become more polarized than ever, celebrities and loved ones have died, and the world seems to be in a general sense of disarray. So, what’s next?

We move on.

Before the year ended I took some time to look at what was most important to me and two things rose to the surface: books and self-care. No matter what else is going on reading has provided me with a comfort that I don’t want to lose. Therefore by association, this community remains important to me and I want to return to it. I still want to write reviews and help others find the next best thing to read. But I also don’t want to feel pressured by the quantity of my content, or obligated to post something when I’m feeling less than stellar. That is where self-care enters.

This year I will take my time and post when I feel like it. After all, for many reviewers, this still remains a hobby. When you have followers to think about, whether you realize this or not,  that growing number automatically adds pressure to meet demands and compete with other reviewers. If this goes on long enough a burn out happens. As it did for me. In 2017, I will still post reviews and tags about books, but at my own pace. (I am also interested in sharing my opinions on movies and TV Shows in the future to add some variety.)  Most importantly, I want to remain honest with you. If I’m not feeling well I want you guys to know. We shouldn’t have to pretend everything is perfect all the time because that in itself is exhausting. Self-care is my ultimate goal this year and I hope that it is for all of you as well.

With that said, I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year! We’re in this together. By the end of the week, I will be posting a list of my favorite books of 2016. Thank you for the continued support and I look forward to another amazing reading year!

Happy Anniversary CaughtWithinPages!

one year ana

WE DID IT! I wanted to send a quick thank you to each and every one of you for joining me on this crazy ride. I’m happy to announce that today marks the 1st year anniversary of CaughtWithinPages. On this day I made the decision to start a blog, and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Although I had to step away for a while, the support I’ve gotten over the last year has been absolutely amazing. I’ve gotten the chance to talk to so many great people. It’s been a pleasure sharing my thoughts on books and writing with you. Truly. This community has been very welcoming to newcomers, and each comment I receive puts a smile on my face.  You make me want to continue blogging. I’ve made some fantastic friends who share their input on books and continue to brighten my day. I hope all of you will stick with me for another year. I got plenty of reviews lined up and other features to share later on. Let’s see where this next year takes us, shall we? From me to you- Thank you!

Happy One Year Anniversary!

Hello Again Readers.

It’s been a while hasn’t it? Forgive me if my writing isn’t superb, I need some time to get back into the swing of this blogging thing. Anyway, I thought I’d post a quick message before jumping back into reviews. It’s been a tiring three and a half months of nonstop school work to complete a massive project, but I’m happy to announce that I no longer have to worry about it anymore. I’ll be able to read and write to my hearts content. I’ve been away from the book community for a long time, and I’d love to hear what I missed. Currently, I’m making a list of novels I want to start reading right away. Any suggestions? I want to thank everyone for allowing me to step away for some time in order to meet other obligations. It’s nice to be back though! Also, CaughtWithinPages one year anniversary is coming up on Monday. How exciting. I’m still trying to figure out how I’ll celebrate. I’m thinking about doing a giveaway. We shall see!

Busy As A Bee

I just wanted to let you guys know about the crazy schedule I’m on at the moment because I feel like I should share this with you. Currently, I’ve started a ginormous 3 month English project for school that unfortunately takes priority and most of my free time. That includes my reading time. For those of you who may have just shed a tear for me, I promise you that I will still be able to read, but the time frame in which my reviews go up might be significantly more spaced out. I’ve also got multiple plans for the summer months that will keep me busy, busy as a worker bee. I still plan on posting reviews for Maybe Someday and A Different Blue very soon. Occasionally life gets a little hectic, but I’m hoping that you all will stick with me. I’ve been blogging for almost a year now and I can’t believe the amount of wonderful support I’ve gotten. I’ve got a special surprise lined up for that week. And to the many friends I’ve made; thank you for being just as crazy about the written word as I am.

Quick Thought, To My Reader

Quick Thought: City and Colour

Recently school has started again and that means that my time is limited, especially when it comes to blogging. I am indeed working on reading a massive novel right now but as you might be able to guess, it’s taking me a while to get through. In the mean time I want to share a new obsession with you. This album has CityColourAlbumbeen on constant replay and I cannot get enough of it.  The album: The Hurry And The Harm by City and Colour was released in June of 2013. Making it fairly new. City and Colour is a solo acoustic project started by Dallas Green. Some of my favorite songs include-

  • Of Space and Time
  • The Lonely Life
  • The Golden State
  • Paradise

I’m always looking for new music recommendations so feel free to leave options below in the comments. Thanks for letting me ramble about this for a bit. I’ll be putting up a Wishlist Wednesday post in the next few days.  Idea from: http://swimlindsey.wordpress.com/ I love reading her blog, please go check her out.
